I am currently studying clinical mental health counseling at Loyola University, where I will graduate with a Master of Science in May 2027. I see my role as a collaborator in identifying and drawing upon every client’s unique strength, values, and meaning to overcome the challenges they face. I bring three years of experience working with those struggling with unstable housing and severe and persistent mental illness, which has helped me connect with every person for who they are and not as defined by diagnoses, stigma, or circumstance. I am committed to creating a culturally responsive space that honors and sees the client’s full background, experiences, and identities. I seek to understand, encourage, challenge, empower, and celebrate. Every person has the capacity for growth and wellness, and I consider it a privilege to share in that process with each client.

Hi! I’m Katherine Genovese,
I believe that everyone deserves a safe, supportive space where they feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow. My goal is to build a genuine therapeutic relationship where clients can explore life’s challenges without fear of judgment while developing the skills and confidence to create meaningful, lasting change.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Child, Adult, and Family Services from Iowa State University and my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Counseling from Capella University. Over the past decade, I have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in a variety of mental health settings.
Throughout my career, I have served as a Behavior Specialist, provided Therapeutic Day Treatment services, and supported individuals and families through Mental Health Skill Building and Intensive In-Home Counseling. These experiences have strengthened my passion for helping clients navigate difficult seasons of life with compassion, understanding, and evidence-based care.
I primarily work with children, adolescents and young adults who are experiencing challenges related to anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, trauma, self-esteem, family conflict, stress, and major life transitions. I understand that seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, and I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable, respected, and supported throughout their journey.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, person-centered, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed interventions, mindfulness, and strengths-based techniques to help clients build resilience, improve coping skills, and work toward their personal goals.
Whether you’re navigating a difficult transition, feeling stuck, or simply looking for a space to better understand yourself, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your path toward healing and growth.

Hi! My name is Diamond Smith. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Dillard University, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Loyola University New Orleans.
As a counseling intern, my goal is to create a warm and supportive space where you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and personal experiences without judgment. I utilize a person-centered approach, and I believe healing begins when people feel genuinely seen and accepted for who they are. One proverb that deeply resonates with me is the reminder to “consider the lilies” and how they grow naturally without force or striving. I believe healing can look similar when people are given the space to feel safe, supported, and accepted as they navigate all of life’s many challenges.
I value working with diverse clients from different backgrounds and life experiences, and I am especially interested in psychological well-being, resilience, identity development, self-concept, relationship concerns, stress, anxiety, and life transitions. My hope is to empower and motivate clients as they reconnect with their strengths, while working toward growth and confidence within themselves.
